Your Ultimate Care Guide for Better Living
Our proprietary wax is renewable and free from synthetic additives or chemicals often used to make commercial candles appear flawless.
Each CANDLEZ piece is hand-poured using biodegradable, vegan-friendly, clean wax.
Natural ingredients like soy wax are living materials — they expand, contract, and evolve over time.
These subtle “flaws” are natural and signify that you’ve purchased a truly natural, non-toxic candle.
At CANDLEZ, we embrace imperfection.
Natural wax may change color, texture, or surface over time — these marks are part of its authenticity.
Uneven tops or surface variations after burning occur because the wax cools at different rates — this is a hallmark of natural wax craftsmanship.
SAFETY & CARE FOR YOUR NEW CANDLE
-
Before the first burn, ensure you have 2–3 hours available to let the wax melt evenly.
-
Keep candles away from flammable materials.
-
Always use a heat-resistant holder, large enough to contain melted wax.
-
Burn on a flat, stable, flame-retardant surface away from children, pets, and drafts.
-
Burn pillar candles for 2–3 hours; candle bowls for 3–4 hours at a time.
-
Allow the wax to cool, trim the wick, and relight.
-
Store candles in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and dust to prevent fading or cracking.
-
On the first burn, let wax melt to the bowl’s edge to prevent tunneling.
-
Pillar candles are designed to hold wax internally; stop burning when the pool reaches 0.5 cm from the edge.
-
Keep candles 10 cm apart when burning multiple together.
-
Always trim wicks to 5–6 mm before lighting.
-
Avoid drafts to prevent uneven burning or sooting.
-
Burn candles only in well-ventilated spaces.
-
Never burn a candle completely down; stop before the flame reaches the base.
-
Use a snuffer to extinguish; avoid blowing directly to prevent splatter.
-
Extinguish immediately if smoke, flickering, or excessive flame occurs — trim the wick and check for airflow.
SAFETY & CARE FOR CONCRETE PIECES
-
Concrete pieces are made from raw materials and crystals, and can be flammable if placed near other candles or open flames.
-
Our concrete is unsealed (no waterproof toxic sealants) — avoid contact with water or liquids.
-
Submerging or wetting concrete may cause cracks or breakage.
-
Handle concrete pieces gently — they are raw, artisanal, and fragile by nature.
COMMON ISSUES WITH PILLAR CANDLES
Tunneling
-
Occurs when the candle burns down the center, leaving wax on the sides.
-
Prevent this by burning long enough for the wax to reach the edges on the first use.
-
If tunneling starts, gently “hug” the soft edges inward toward the flame.
-
If too deep, trim the excess rim after cooling.
-
Note: Single-wick candles over 7.5 cm wide may naturally tunnel.
Smoke
-
A small amount is normal; continuous smoke is not.
-
Drafts or long wicks are common causes.
-
Move away from airflow.
-
Trim wick to 6 mm (¼ inch) and relight.
-
Dripping
Our candles use natural wax—delicate, soft, and free of synthetic stabilizers.
Dripping can occur for several reasons:
-
Drafts – Move the candle or block airflow.
-
Proximity – Keep candles 10 cm apart to prevent melting or warping.
-
Uneven Surface – Ensure the candle stands upright.
-
Burn Time – Burn 2–3 hours initially to near the edge, then avoid long burns (>4 hrs).
-
Wick Length – Keep wick straight and trimmed to 6 mm for an even burn.
REMEMBER:
Each CANDLEZ piece is handcrafted — small imperfections are signs of authentic artistry, not defects.
Treat your candle with care, patience, and respect for the hands that made it.
